My name is Ayanda Mkize and I grew up in Magabheni Township. I did my Internship through CATHSETA and was placed as an intern at a company called Bluff Eco Park. During my internship I acquired skills such as Telephone Etiquette, Customer Service, Business Administration and Communication.

I studied Tourism Management and being a Front Desk Receptionist Intern in the Accommodation Sector really assisted me in understanding the basics of Accommodation and Bookings. I would like to see myself as a Hotel Manager in future.

I learnt more about listening to clients to understand what they need during their stay. I also learnt a lot about different types of Online Booking Websites. The importance of portraying a professional image, smiling and being friendly to customers and understanding different languages was very important in the job. Being a team player and also working independently was also required and I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. This job also required creative thinking and problem solving. I would love to thank Insika Foundation and CATHSETA for the opportunity they gave me.

My name is Mdletshe Nokukhanya Samukelisiwe and I grew up in a rural area called Hluhluwe in KZN.  I was fortunate and landed an opportunity to be an intern at the Department of home Affairs where I was placed in the Finance Department. During my time as an Intern I learnt a lot about time management, dedication to my work, and working as part of a team. My allocated duties and tasks included:

• Capturing the daily invoices to keep record,
• Receiving and making calls both internally and to external clients,
• Preparing quotations for our office needs,
• Depositing cash timeously,
• Controlling the issuing of petty cash and also replenishing of petty cash,
• Processing payment of invoices within 30 days
• Controlling proper budgeting,
• Filing finance records,
• Ensuring the Monthly Paymaster General is submitted monthly,
• Making the marriage bookings for clients, and
• Assisting at Civil Services Department.

Today, I am so confident about myself and I am holding a diploma in Business management. I wish that Insika Foundation should continue to assist other learners as they me. I am grateful!

My name is Cebisile Innocentia Mabaso and I am from Nongoma, Kwa-Zulu Natal. I was selected to be an Intern through Insika Foundation at the Nongoma Municipality where my job included processing invoices, dealing with residential confirmations, filing, and assisting with walk in clients on a day-to-day basis. I studied Tourism and so working at the Nongoma Municipality was very exciting as we got to visit National Parks as part of our work and I really learned so much. Thank you so much to the Insika Foundation and to Nongoma Municipality.

My name is Senzo Khulekani Mpungose and I was born and raised in Empangeni but I moved to Mandeni in 2011. I was selected to be an Intern in 2018 to 2019 and my host employer was Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. During my internship at Mkhuze I was able to learn all the roles and responsibilities of a Receptionist like welcoming guest on arrival checking guests in and out when they depart. I was also able to be a switchboard operator and perform general office duties like filling, photocopying, printing and scanning.  Attending the curio shop and making financial transactions as a cashier and doing reservations was part of my job. One of the lessons that I learnt during my Internship is that persistence always pays off. It may not be when we want it to happen, but if we stay persistent day in and day out, we will eventually get to where we want to go. Do not seek for instant praise and gratification, be patient and trust the process. I would like to thank the Insika Foundation for the opportunity they gave us, they were able to help us with everything since the beginning of the journey especially Nontobeko Mnyandu whom we communicated with more often till the end of the Internship.

My name is Dineo Matlhakoana and I am from Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga but I currently live in Tembisa, Gauteng. I was selected to be an Intern by Insika Foundation and I was placed with a company called Change Agility in Midrand as a Marketing Intern. My role at Change Agility included daily administrative tasks as well as initiating print, digital and email marketing campaigns and promotions for the company. One of the most important things that I learnt as part of the Internship is to work well with a successful team but also to work independently. I enjoyed my Internship because it showed me how much the Marketing world has evolved and I find that very interesting. I would like to thank Insika Foundation for the great work that they do. I have learnt so much about Marketing and I believe this will help me in pursuing my career in Marketing. I am very grateful.

My name is Thembani Mbuli and I grew up in Zonkizizwe Katlehong. I did a Public Management Internship through Insika Foundation and I was based at a company called Asakhe Team Building and Events Management for my Internship. My duties included handling invoices, quotations, writing meetings minutes, filling, handling calls, data capturing and being the Events Assistant Coordinator. I enjoyed this role very much! During my time there I learnt a lot about being able to work as team, meeting deadlines and working under pressure. Also learning to use Pastel Accounting which was an important skill that I learnt during my Internship. I would like to say thank you to Insika Foundation for giving me a platform where I gained lot of experience in administration, handling office equipment and also customer care. I am passing on my skills by assisting grade 12 learners with career guidance.

My name is Nomhle Molefe and I grew up in Thembisa, Gauteng. I was an intern at the City of Johannesburg in the Sports, Arts and Recreation Department where my job involved answering calls, email distribution, minute taking, typing and attending to client queries. During my time as intern I learnt a lot about professional communication, independence and taking constructive criticism as well. The internship helped prepare me for my current job. I am currently Working as Head of Administration at Moore. I am very grateful for the program and what it has done for me in getting a job. A big Warm THANK YOU to Insika Foundation 🙂
